Q: What is Dreams Uncharted?
A: Dreams Uncharted is a crowdfunded comic book project where a few heroic donors can bring free comic books to the masses! Unlike in traditional crowdfunds where the donors alone get access to the books they support, at Dreams Uncharted the entire library is available to everyone free of charge. Donors can fund new pages of the books they like so that everyone can read them. While this approach is less exclusive, it allows donors to experience the warm feeling of giving to others!
Q: How does Dreams Uncharted work?
A: Dreams Uncharted offers an ever-expanding library of books that anyone can read at any time, free of charge. If there's a particular book you enjoy, you can donate to produce more pages of that book, or if you want to start a new adventure you can also donate to start an entirely new line of books!
Q: What kind of stories can I expect?
A: At Dreams Uncharted we don't limit ourselves to any particular genre. Sci-Fi, fantasy, superheroes, nothing is off the table! The one major though-line, however, is that we want our stories to have a grand sense of adventure. Get ready to explore vibrant worlds and see amazing things!
Q: I donated but the progress bar didn't move. What gives?
A: The progress bar is updated manually, so it might take a little while for your donation to be added to the total. Generally speaking, your donation should be added within a day or two, although in the case of vacations or other personal issues it might take longer. Our crew is small, so please be patient!
Q: The progress bar didn't move by quite as much as I donated, why?
A: Progress is measured by the amount of money received after the payment processor takes their cut. As a result the amount of progress made will be slightly less than what was donated.
Q: I like your stories, but I can't donate or buy merch right now. Is there some way I can help?
A: Absolutely! The best way to help out is to spread the word! Share Dreams Uncharted on social media and with friends and family. The more people we have reading our books the more quickly they're likely to hit their goals!
Q: How quickly will a new issue be released once the goal is hit?
A: That depends on when we're able to get it ready. Sometimes it will be released immediately, or sometimes it may take a while. We don't know how fast or slow fundraising goals might be hit, and comics take time to make. However, we will strive to release the comics as soon as we possibly can.
Q: What is my money going to?
A: Your donation will be put towards a goal which, when reached, will release a new page. In terms of the way the money is actually used, most of the donations will go to funding artwork for new comic issues, which will typically be somewhere between 24-30 pages (regardless of how long the first issue is). The majority of the money will go specifically to the book you've selected, although the goal is set to have some extra margins that can be used to re-invest into other projects . Part of the donations will also go to the ongoing costs of keeping the website running. Ideally there will be some profit as well, although merch sales are much more effective for making a profit.
